MARTINSVILLE, Va. — William Byron gained the pole for Sunday’s Xfinity 500 NASCAR Cup Sequence race at Martinsville Speedway.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver turned a lap of 19.286 seconds at 98.185 mph on the .526-mile paperclip-shaped observe.
It was his third pole of the season and the sixteenth of his profession.
Joe Gibbs Racing driver Ty Gibbs certified second within the No. 54 Toyota.
Byron’s Hendrick teammate Kyle Larson will begin third, whereas two-time collection champion Joey Logano certified fourth for Crew Penske and Ford.
Denny Hamlin claimed the fifth spot in a second JGR Toyota.
