Mark Webber's crash at Le Mans occurred in the course of the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans race, when he was driving the Mercedes-Benz CLR. Webber skilled two terrifying airborne accidents in the course of the lead-up to the race. The primary occurred throughout follow, and the second in the course of the warm-up session, when his automobile flipped backward at excessive velocity because of aerodynamic instability. The crashes have been attributable to a design flaw that made the automobile unstable at sure angles and speeds. Though Webber was unhurt, the incidents—together with an analogous crash by teammate Peter Dumbreck in the course of the race—led Mercedes to withdraw from endurance racing for a number of years.
