The Manitoba Moose opened their 2025-26 season this previous weekend with a pair of matchups in opposition to the Laval Rocket at Canada Life Centre.

The Moose began sturdy Friday night time, defeating Laval 4-1 to earn a 1-0-0-0 file to start the marketing campaign. Brayden Yager, making his skilled debut, scored his first purpose after sniping a shot previous Rocket goaltender Jacob Fowler. The play developed off a clear passing sequence from Ashton Sautner to Colby Barlow, who fed Yager reducing down the center, and the rookie made no mistake burying it.

Kevin Conley added one other marker with simply over six minutes left within the body, giving the Moose a 2-0 lead heading into the primary intermission.

Simply over 12 minutes into the second interval, Joshua Roy bought Laval on the board with a power-play purpose. The Moose shortly responded, as Walker Duehr tallied his first purpose in a Moose sweater to revive the two-goal cushion.

Danny Zhilkin later prolonged the result in 4-1 within the third, whereas goaltender Domenic DiVincentiis shut the door the remainder of the best way, ending with 36 saves within the victory.

“We’ll benefit from the night time. Tomorrow we now have to get again on the ice and get again to work and make it possible for we’re able to go and properly rested for 2 o’clock on Sunday,” DiVincentiis mentioned postgame.

Quick ahead to Sunday, the Moose aimed to comb the weekend collection in opposition to the Montreal Canadiens’ AHL affiliate. Laval struck first, with Laurent Dauphin opening the scoring within the first interval.

The Rocket added two extra within the second, courtesy of Roy and Sean Farrell, to make it 3-0.

Issues started to slide away when Owen Beck prolonged the result in 4-0 early within the third. However the Moose confirmed some pushback, as David Gustafsson scored twice within the remaining 11 minutes to make it 4-2. Laval sealed the win with Roy’s empty-net purpose, finishing his three-goal weekend and securing a 5-2 remaining.

The Moose wrapped up their opening weekend with a 1-1-0-0 file. They now head on the street for a back-to-back collection in opposition to the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday and Saturday.
