Darryl Strawberry has firm atop the Mets’ all-time house run checklist.
Pete Alonso blasted profession homer No. 252 within the second inning on Saturday to tie Strawberry because the franchise’s all-time chief. The homer in opposition to the Brewers’ Tobias Myers was Alonso’s twenty sixth this season.
In June, the slugging first baseman had a two-homer recreation at Colorado that moved him forward of David Wright for second place on the Mets’ all-time checklist. Wright hit 242 homers.
However Alonso endured a drought starting in late June and didn’t choose up the tempo till the Mets’ homestand. Alonso hit three homers in 4 video games to start the homestand.
Strawberry set his franchise document from 1983-90. Strawberry, in establishing his mark, broke Dave Kingman’s franchise document of 154 homers.
