RIO RANCHO, N.M. – Following a powerful response from the group, the New Mexico Professional Hockey Membership has introduced the three finalists for its official staff identify. The “Identify the Crew” contest generated almost 2,000 submissions from followers throughout the state and past. The next names have been chosen as finalists:

Cutthroats
A nod to the native Rio Grande cutthroat trout, New Mexico’s state fish, recognized for its aggressive nature and putting colours.
Goatheads
Impressed by the goathead thorn – a relentless desert weed that’s almost unattainable to kill – and the wild Ibex goat – an emblem of survival in harsh, mountainous terrain.
Tarantula Hawks
The tarantula hawk, New Mexico’s state insect, is likely one of the Southwest’s most formidable predators. This huge wasp is thought for having some of the painful stings on the planet.
