Montreal Canadiens defenceman phenom Lane Hutson had seemingly finished all of it since arriving on the scene late within the 2023-24 season. Not fairly. Not till Saturday’s recreation (Dec. 14) versus the Winnipeg Jets. The one factor left on his rookie bucket checklist was scoring an NHL objective, which he lastly did within the first interval to interrupt a scoreless tie.
Lane Hutson Nets First NHL Objective
Sarcastically, fellow Hockey Writers scribe Ryan Szporer printed a bit earlier this week about how the fear about Hutson’s lack of goal-scoring was unwarranted. Properly, no person wants to fret about that formally anymore, both.

The objective got here on the 7:48 mark of the opening body. Montreal earned a faceoff to the left of Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck. Captain Nick Suzuki claimed it, sending the puck to Cole Caufield, who then delivered it to Mike Matheson nearer to the Winnipeg blue line.
Matheson skated barely to his left, the place Hutson waited for the go. The younger defender was already skating within the route of the crease when he acquired the disc, after which he despatched a tough, low wrister that beat Hellebuyck.
Hutson and his linemates celebrated joyously, arguably extra so due to what it meant to the 20-year-old than the truth that it gave the visiting Canadiens an early lead towards a stiff opponent.
Keep tuned for extra protection of the Canadiens-Jets recreation.
